Dogwood Pink Flowering

When we visited the farm on Sunday they had two pink Dogwoods planted in the circular entrance. I really fell in love with it. It has the deepest color, I saw this season. The dogwood is also beautiful, but not like this. I think it's' Cherokee Chief ', but had even more colors than they usually are.
Dogwood Pink Flowering
We got the job on a farm and I look forward to working with the owner. I worked at another firm, yesterday and the garden is alive there. We put in 20 new roses and all, the beautiful rose garden. There are a couple of roses who fight and have a week or two to take over before they get the ax.

I start a big job in Greenwich, Connecticut today. There is always a little anxiety before diving in. The owner seems very nice with a real desire to have a beautiful garden.

I have seen this Hoover Fly when I went to take a photo of the daffodil.

White Crabapple Flowers

Crabapple this had the most seductive perfume. I shot this photo in the small farm. At 25 hectares, it is not really little but smaller than others, we are working on farms. I call the small firm because it has a small garden then others. I'm not sure what this variety of crab is and try to understand is impossible. It might be "Snowdrift" but it's just an assumption. I knew Crabapple are fragrant, but it went a little beyond what I consider normal. It was very enjoyable because there was a patch in lilac and white flowers near the tree was unbearable.

White Crabapple Flowers

By browsing the archives of shooting, but not pictures I found this Orchid. (Asian Corsage Orchid, Cymbidium "Milk Tea").

Yesterday I completed another house, but my appointment given more work so it was a wash. One of the houses I visited has a collection of rhododendrons yellow, which I find very interesting. I wish I had my camera with me! They will probably be at the time of flowering I return to work. Sigh.

Siberian Iris Flower

Siberian Iris Flower

Siberian Iris
Iris sibirica
(EYE-ris) (sy-BEER-ah-kuh)

There is a lot to love about Siberian Iris. It is definitely one of my 'go-to' plants for tough conditions. It seems to be able to grow in very moist soil and if you need it to in fairly dry soil (water during establishment). The foliage is nice and often turns a reddish color in the fall.

Siberian Iris Flower

This Iris was blooming in the border of one of the gardens I visited yesterday. I inherited it so I don't know the cultivar. Since they hybridize freely there are many colors and heights to choose from. Siberian Iris is at home alongside a pond or in the border. It doesn't ask for much care, I don't think I have ever had anything attack it before, and is just about always reliable. One thing I found out is that it will grow in part-shade but doesn't flower as well and the foliage gets a little wispy. The clumps don't need to be divided but you can make many new plants if you do.

Since some of the Bearded Iris (Iris germanica) were blooming I decided to get a few snaps of those. The bi-color one was especially pretty.

This was first time i heard Peony. The Peonies are blooming now. Some of them have gone by already but the main collection is now in flower. They are such a grand flower and such a classic. I don't like the extra work of staking them but right now it is worth it. There are about 30 species of the herbaceous types and ten of the woody species. I have only grown a couple of them and they are the ones that are fairly common. Funny I made a post 364 days ago on Peonies.
